Buenos Aires 2007

After almost five years of waiting to go to Buenos Airess with Eva and Patricio we finally got a chance to meet here. What I didn't know until the last minute was that they are getting married. Due to the limited bandwidth I'm not able to upload the highest resolution images. When I get back home to Seattle, I will work on it more. For now, I hope you enjoy the photos.

  • This was just the checkin line for American Airlines. I had been waiting for 10 hours (the night before0 for a plane when they finally decided to cancel the flight due to mechanical problems. I spent the night in Chicago and arrived at 5 AM on December 24th at O'Hare International Airport. The place was a mess.

  • I finally arrived only to find there were no taxi cabs available on Christmas Eve. I waited amost 2 hours for this cab and by now it's about 2 AM and traffic is horrible. Husband driving and mother and son are the passengers. I shard this cab with another guy (we were both stuck at the airport and didn't know when another cab was going to show up). The child played in the front seat, no seatbelt or anything. This is how they spent their Christmas.
  • This is the first room I stayed in. No phone, no AC, tons of noise and a very, very tiny room. My lens made the place look big. They had just gotten into the hotel / bed and breakfast business when one of the partners left. They really didn't know what they were doing. They are charging $100 per night (US). I couldn't wait to get out of this place and into something bigger and better.
  • The closet did not open all the way because of the nightstand. there wasn't any place to put my suitcases and had AA not lost my big bag, I wouldn't have had any room to walk.
  • The bathroom was so small. No place to put anything. I had to balance my shaving brush on the towel rack. They gave me one towel and one hand towel which was on my bed when I arrived. The place use to be a large house, now converted into a B&B or something... I don't think they even know. The white thing on the left is the sink hangin on the wall and there is room for only one person at a time in the bathroom.
  • The courtyard.
  • I was upstairs and my room was to the left. The door was locked all the time and you had to leave your keys at the front desk when you left.
  • This is the shared dining room area. My laptop on the table and some coffee and pastries.
  • This is the shared living room area.
  • More photos of the courtyard and the rooms. The room on the second floor ahead looks into my window.

  • This is the kitchen (below my room) which every little sound from traveled up into my window. Free beer, water and soda as long as you ask first. :)
